Slidell is located on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain and is the perfect place for families with small children with only rising water. Surrounded by rivers and coves, and just a short drive from New Orleans, Baton Rouge and the Mississippi, it is a perfect place for a family with their little one.
Look for ringed turtles along the coast, keep an eye out for skies to spot dragons - tail swallows - and be aware of American alligators in the summer months when they bask in the sun on the shore. Browse the curiosities, listen to staff tell you funny facts about props, snap some Insta-worthy photos and watch the coastlines of ringing saws and turtles. If you can't part with these charming crustaceans, take them home so we can always remember our journey deep down south.
Visit Slidell's small theatre, where art is encouraged for all ages from children to adults. The theatre performs six musicals each week, each of which runs for a week from Shakespeare to Disney, so there's something for every audience.
There is nothing better than to attend the Olde Towne Slidell Antiques Fairs, which run from March to October and feature over 200 vendors and sellers showcasing their wares on the streets. Enjoy the beautiful scenery, native plants and animals while the boat rocks in the water and waits for a bite. Guests can swim in the shallow water or spend the day in the sun, or get on a boat with a guide and spend a full day fishing in the Biloxi Marsh or Lake Pontchartrain. Located just a few miles south of Slidell and north of New Orleans, it is one of Louisiana's most popular fishing destinations and a great destination for families.
The plants and animals that live in this area are really unique and adapted to the regular floods that occur periodically in the park. It is a great opportunity to experience one of the most pristine marshes in the country.

It is with great pride that I, together with my staff and legislative leaders, have begun the process of renaming the Court. To achieve this process and maintain a clear focus throughout the process, I have reached out to all my colleagues in the House of Representatives, whose districts include the City of Slidell and the State of Louisiana, as well as the City of Nola, to express their support for these efforts. I enjoyed the special slideshow created to honor the people who make up the great people of New Orleans, the citizens of our state and our city. The city representatives have agreed on the "Nolaer / Slideller Karneval von Krewes" as part of their annual carnival celebration.
Slidell Amtrak Station is adjacent to Front Street and Olde Towne Slidell, where people can play football in the open air.
